The UK Energy Crisis - More Households Enter Fuel Poverty

The number of homes in fuel poverty continues to rise in the UK

According to the charity National Energy Action, the energy crisis means millions of households are struggling to afford their energy bills and stay warm.

In October 2021, 4.5 million UK households were in fuel poverty. By October 2024, there were 6 million. At least 13% of households in England are now living in fuel poverty. This figure rises to nearly 25% for homes using outdated, energy intensive and inefficient electric heating – around 250,000 homes. These households are really vulnerable to energy cost increases, particularly in the winter months

When installed in highly insulated homes and in conjunction with mechanical ventilation and heat recovery and a solar package, electric underfloor heating can actually remove the need for energy bills.

This is the energy strategy that is widely used in TALO homes in the UK and in the Nordic countries, which have temperature extremes as low as -50° up to 30°.

If you are a local authority, social landlord, build-to-rent specialist or residential property developer, low-income tenants can really benefit from TALO’s advanced offsite housebuilding technology.

Zero energy bills at no cost premium for the construction of each home.
