TALO's Review of the Year and Reflections on UK Housebuilding

TALO's review of 2024

As 2024 draws to a close, the TALO team has been reflecting on some of our highlights of 2024.

We have had an overwhelming response to our approach to helping property developers and housing providers build more energy efficient homes in the UK. And we are really excited to have so many opportunities for the year ahead.

A few of our highlights and milestones:

  • We were awarded ICW Endorsed accreditation from ICW Group – one of the UK’s largest structural insurance warranty specialists.
  • Two of our founding directors – Dr Anthony Greer and Bengt Magnussen – spoke at a number of high profile conferences and seminars and we have more speaker opportunities already scheduled for 2025.

  • We have delivered our first projects for Pack Developments and MJE Properties in the South East of England and have a strong pipeline for the New Year with a new housebuilding scheme about to start in Orpington.

  • We have expanded our team with a series of new appointments in project management, design and marketing.

Dr Anthony Greer, TALO's Corporate Strategy Director, shares his reflections about the housing sector, the wider business environment, and TALO’s progress over the past year:

  • The UK housing sector now feels very different to a year ago and is much more receptive to MMC. Volumetric has its place, particularly for high rise and multi-occupancy schemes, but there is a renewed energy and interest in advanced panelised and Cat 2 solutions – which fit with TALO’s offer so well.

  • The focus of any business should be on outcomes. Perhaps it is our approach coming from scientific / analytical backgrounds and other sectors such as oil and gas but our commitment to deliver on outcomes – such as significantly reduced energy bills and zero snagging – are immensely powerful.

We have passion, energy and excitement about achieving more and pushing boundaries and those messages are being very well received – and that is now reflected in our strong project pipeline.

  • Our latest batch of projects in the South East using our superstructure system have had incredible impact. There is nothing like potential housebuilding clients, investors and supply chain partners seeing our solutions at first hand – and being blown away.

Whether that is air permeability test results that not just meet but exceed Passivhaus energy standards on the first test or simply the feel of quality when you open a door. How we do things differently is there for all to see.

  • This year we have taken a different and deeper approach to our communications and the market is receptive and listening to us. That investment over the last 12 months is paying huge dividends as we continue to build the TALO brand.

  • Post election, there are still clear economic challenges, but the macro drivers are better and stronger. The Government is pushing hard for new housing and new initiatives to support MMC are coming through which will benefit housebuilders, housing providers and property developers.

The whole TALO team would like to thank all our valued customers, investors, supply chain partners and friends of TALO for their support this year and for being part of our drive for transformation in UK housebuilding.
