Leona Wikman is TALO’s Technical Director, heading up the timber superstructure business’s technical services.
Leona is passionate about reinventing how new homes are designed and built – from the foundations up – and to bringing housebuilding technology and zero energy homes from Finland to the UK – solutions which are more advanced and more sustainable than anything currently available here.
Her role includes managing compliance and accreditations to ensure the continued performance to specification for TALO’s advanced timber superstructure solutions for housebuilders and public sector housing providers.
She works closely with industry bodies, such as the NHBC, to put in place the required certifications and independent approvals to give TALO’s strategic customer partners the reassurance that its solutions continue to meet and exceed statutory performance requirements.
Leona’s role includes liaising with supply chain partners in Finland, working with the manufacturing team, and overseeing technical detailing and system performance. She also leads TALO’s marketing and the development of its technical documentation.
With a degree in business, Leona’s experience includes a global marketing role in the offshore oil industry.
In 2013, she was a founding director of a highly successful timber superstructure business in Norway, which uses the same Finnish technology that TALO is now bringing to the UK.
As MD, she has led the business in Norway for more than a decade – where there is far greater acceptance and wider use of MMC. Under her leadership, the company has built homes across Norway and has established a strong customer base.
This means Leona brings exceptional technical knowledge of these transformational yet proven building solutions and a deep understanding of the manufacturing processes and exceptional quality control which TALO will be replicating in its first UK factory.
Outside of work, Leona enjoys skiing, golf and wakeboarding.
